On the road with My Bloody Valentine

This tour was a trip and a half!

[pullquote]Dumb Numbers’ ADAM HARDING writes about life on the road with My Bloody Valentine – from personal chefs to meeting Patti Smith.

Since uprooting his life in Geelong for the bright lights of California, filmmaker and musician Adam Harding has formed the band Dumb Numbers, which is made up of a revolving cast of LA-locals including Murph from Dinosaur Jr and members of Melvins, Sebadoh, Best Coast and Magic Dirt. Thanks to a long-running relationship between Murph and Kevin Shields, the band was invited to go on tour with My Bloody Valentine for the east-coast leg of their US tour in November 2013. “When the offer came through, I was simultaneously shocked, honoured, elated and nervous,” he told FL.

After recovering from the shock news, Harding enlisted Murph, Melbourne guitarist Bonnie Mercer and mastering engineer Pete Lyman for the five-date trek. While on the road he kept a record of life on tour with My Bloody Valentine – from playing the Hammersmith in New York to meeting Patti Smith.
