The Dacios have just completed recording a new album on which I have played bass as well as a few guitar tracks.
Here we are in the thick of mixing, with LJ obviously requesting more vocals, please.
I’ll be playing SXSW in Austin, Texas this year. I’ll be joining a load of other fellow Aussie musicians including Angus & Julia Stone, Courtney Barnett, Bloods, The Church, Luluc, and Twerps.
My showcase will be happening on Friday 20th March at The Hideout. Please come by and say hello if you happen to be in town!
Gonna kick off 2015 with making a big, big noise at the Public Bar in Melbourne. Steve Patrick (Useless Children) will be joining me on bass and we’ll be kicking off the evening ahead of Borrachero, Holy Serpent & Stone Revival. Doors at 8:30pm.

Hello my fellow moon watchers. Here’s the brand new official video for “Linda Goodman’s Love Signs”, taken from the release ‘Old Moon / New Moon’. Filmed, edited and directed by my good friend Adam Harding in Los Angeles.

I’ve got a run of exciting shows coming up this December, kicking off with supporting the mighty Sleep at The Corner Hotel!
I’ll be opening for Sleep (USA) at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on 6th December 2014. Many thanks to Life Is Noise! Get out yer bongs!
Steve Patrick and I will be playing a duo set again on Saturday 2nd August at The Old Bar in Fitzroy. Really looking forward to playing with The Loveless again….especially with new bass player Liz Thomas – one of my favourite Melbourne bands. Also on the bill is Uday’s Tiger & Kaleidescope from Wollongong, NSW.
There’s something otherworldly, something hypnotic, about watching a band like Earth live. It was immediately present on their 2012 tour, sitting on the side stage at the Corner Hotel, eyes closed for half the set. Before we get to that though…
Very excited about this bill. I’ve been wanting to see Trade for a long time now. A Strange Day is a new project from Dylan from White Walls, and Top Cat DVD is all round legend Simon Karis. Should be nice Sunday evening. The show is also part of the Leaps & Bounds Festival.
I’ve gone ahead and created myself a Facebook page. I’ve been doing some more solo recordings lately, so I’ve gotten all excited and will posisbly wanna bang on and on about it all. If you feel you’d like to be subjected to this type of ranting, please pop by and give me a ‘like’.
This is fine company to be in.
LIAM BREWER / DAV BYRNE / CIARAN GEOGHEGAN / BONNIE MERCER / PIERS MORGAN / DANIEL TUCCERI
Six guitarists. Six strings. Six half stacks. 6.6.6. Possibly 666 decibels. Entirely consisting of guitar drones and feedback, the aim is for internal liquefaction via voluminal pressure.
SARAH MARY CHADWICK from BATRIDER and CELESTE POTTER from OUCH MY FACE are having an exhibition in the gallery above Old Bar.
Check out photos from the My Bloody Valentine & Dumb Numbers show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, New York on 11 Nov 2013.
Dumb Numbers are extremely honored to be touring with My Bloody Valentine on the East Coast leg of their upcoming tour!
Hello. I am playing at the Grace Darling in the tiny basement on Friday July 5th.
On Thursday the 20th of June, Big Yawn will be launching their recorded output at the Tote Hotel in Collingwood.
Here’s a review of the collaboration Breathing Shrine did with Scattered Order.
Former Grey Daturas and Breathing Shrine: Bonnie Mercer. Not here really quite done justice, live Mercer dishes out sort of macho sorcery, beating her Jaguar into submission wringing feedback from it like wrestling an anaconda. ‘Bad Acid, Bad Job, Bad Amp’ feat. hypnotic chugging wall-of-Stooges guitar back’n’forth, plus shreds. See her solo when you can, or in more conventional role; riffs for sludgey/garage Melbs Dead River.
First solo show since the Earth tour this Sunday 28th October at The Gasometer.
Some photos and a review from the Earth support gig I played at the Hifi Bar in Sydney on Thurs 13th Sept 2012.
At this point the decibels were emanating from a lone performer on the stage, Bonnie Mercer. Her solo performance comprises wholly of feedback manipulation, sometimes evoking a gojiran giant slowly being brought to the ground, sometimes an unwilling noise-spirit being dragged moaning from the amplifier. In both instances the spectacle is impressive. If you can imagine Fun House slowed down – like all the amphetamine had run out, and Iggy was using his newfound quaalude-time to explore his feelings for sludgy psychedelic drones (and decided he loved them) – you can imagine a certain aspect to the sound created by Bonnie Mercer and her Jaguar.
This was my Tropscore 2012 entry. Hence, ideally this should be listened to whilst viewing the supposedly accompanying short film….but the T’s and C’s say that’s not allowed…..
I’ll be joining Sydney legends Scattered Order on guitar this Sunday night (22nd April 2012) at the Grace Darling (cellar).

Bonnie Mercer: Blau. Reminds me of Faust IV (oh, come on, whaddaya mean you’ve never heard of it? Oh, for fuck’s sake) tuneful and melodic through a delicate haze of fuzzy guitar. Actually, this is really damn good. I love this one. Hell, it doesn’t go for long enough.
I’ve got a few exciting shows coming up…..starting with one this evening!…..
THURSDAY 22nd MARCH – GRACE DARLING HOTEL (CELLAR)
Tonight (Thursday 22nd March) i’ll be playing solo down in the cellar of the Grace Darling Hotel for part 2 of The Shape of Sound – VOL. 2 compilation CD that i contributed a track to.
Also on the bill is Mad Nanna, admin bldg, Galactagogue & Monolith.
Here’s the Facebook event page for it! - The Shape Of Sound – VOL.2 ( Launch 2)
And here a a few articles/reviews of the compilation:
On Sunday night (25th March) I’ll be opening up for Boris (from Japan) down at the Northcote Social Club. Doors 8pm.
I’ve never seen Boris play live, so I’m really looking forward to checking them out! A memorable tour moment is discovering the album Absolutego with Rob Mayson during the first Grey Daturas USA tour. We were sleeping on the floor of the promoters house in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, came across the CD in his collection and proceeded to happily fall asleep with the CD on repeat. Hopefully our hosts slept as pleasantly as we did that night.
I was gonna post I link to some Absolutego, but to be honest….I’m hoping Boris kick out the fuckin’ jams in the following fashion on Sunday night!
SUNDAY 1st APRIL – THE CORNER HOTEL
On Sunday 1st April, my band Dead River will be playing with Dead Meadow & Pink Mountaintops at the Corner Hotel. Once again I’ve never seen either band play live and it’s a pretty damn exciting support slot for my relatively new band.
Here a recording of Dead River live on 3CR radio:
And finally…..(only for now!)…..
SUNDAY 22nd APRIL – GRACE DARLING HOTEL (CELLAR)
I’m extremely excited to have been asked by Scattered Order (a legendary noise making band from Sydney, Australia, who began their post punk assault on listeners in 1979!!) to play guitar with them for a show when they travel down to Melbourne in April!
Here’s a link to the Facebook event page:

First you learn your instrument, then you learn the music, and then you forget all that shit and just play.
Video recorded on the I-5, Oregon (travelling from Portland to San Francisco) 10th December 2007.
The track ‘Signal Limitation’ (Bonnie Mercer) appears on the CDR of the same name.
Mistletone is proud to present for the first time in Australia, the super psychedelic sounds of San Francisco’s Wooden Shjips.
Wooden Shjips (that’s not a typo) is a quartet who play rock n roll in a style heavily influenced by the experimentalism of psychedelia, classical minimalism and garage rock excess. Started as an experiment in rhythmic primitivism and group improvisation, the current lineup brings a more structured rock approach to its performances.
Their songs sound something akin to the icy garage rock of early Echo & The Bunnymen crossed with the sun-bleached tremolo-punk of the Scientists. There are hints of krautrock, the trance-inducing organ haze of Suicide, Deerhunter style dance-drone, classic desert-fried garage psych and the mysterious, obscure Japanese lysergic-rock band Les Rallizes Denudes all mixed into one explosive whole.

This is the short film which accompanies the 2007 Magic Dirt album, Roky’s Room. Magic Dirt invited me to play on the album and appear in the film, both of which were amazing, unforgettable experiences.
‘Paradise’ had its world premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) in 2008.
Festival of experimental sound, performance and audiovisual programming.
Tomorrow the World is a West Space project in the form of a mini-festival that focuses on experimental sound, performance and audiovisual programming. The festival runs across a number of weeks and each weeknight is programmed within a different format. The eclectic line-up involves disparate arts communities, reflecting our aim to survey different experimental (and sometimes just plain mental) interdisciplinary and audiovisual arts practices. Essentially, we have given each artist free reign to do what they want.
